If your mortgage company is a bank or has services in addition to home loan lending, you may be able to benefit from a package deal. This means you may be able to couple a credit card with your mortgage or be able to take out personal loans with special advantages.
This can be especially useful if you are looking for home insurance, as a mortgage company with an insurance branch will likely offer excellent rates to its borrowers. This may just extend to home and contents insurance for smaller institutions, but banks may even offer discounts for other kinds of insurance. Essentially, it is worth asking a mortgage company about any package deals it may offer, as these could end up saving you money if you find a good one.
